14.Registration of Veterinary pharmaceuticals

Requirements:

In terms of the sections no.16 and 18 of the Animal Disease Act no.59 of 1992, the Veterinary pharmaceuticals and vaccine manufacturers and importers should register their manufactured Veterinary drugs, vaccines or those imported for local sale, at the Veterinary Drug Controlling Authority.

Applications are available:

  • www.daph.gov.lk
  • Veterinary Regulatory Affairs Division, Department of Animal Production and Health, Peradeniya.

Fee for the application:

The application will be issued without any charge. Nevertheless , it is recommended to buy guidebooks compiled for the registration according to the regulations pertaining to the vaccine and whichis comprised with the instructions on filling the application and furnishing the requirements which should be completed with the application. The price of this guidebook is Rs.250.00.

Time of submission:

From 8.30 a.m to 4.15 p.m during the office hours of the weekdays

Service charge:

  • for each item-submission fee Rs.3000.00
  • for the certificate after the approval Rs.2000.00
  • for registration of the productions-Rs.1000.00

Duration takes at providing the service:

from o2 weeks to 03 months

Alternatives or circumstances other than the above requirements and specific information:

At a special need, a user permit can be obtained to use imported Veterinary drugs and vaccines which are not registered . For this, the recommendation of a Veterinary Surgeon is essential.It is compulsory to use veterinary drugs and vaccines for the farms in need within a limited duration.
