The Government Information Centre set up by the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) is the first technologically advanced information seeking option in the country.

This initiative is backed by the power and innovation of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) which is the backbone of disseminating information technology throughout country.
 
Queries such as how to obtain one’s National Identity Card, registering vehicles, registering marriages and obtaining certificates could be answered by calling 1919; the information hotline of the GIC. Anyone in the island can access this number from any phone from any place in the island making this the most easily accessible and hassle-free method in obtaining essential information.
 
The GIC is a collaborative initiative of the e-Sri Lanka Project, ICTA and the Presidential Secretariat.

The Government Information Center [GIC] of Sri Lanka makes it that much easier for you to seek and request information on all essential citizen-centric government services. The trilingual call centre is the single point of contact for information and guidance for all citizen services in the government and is now available to the public.
 
The GIC is also known as "1-9-1-9”: its mission being to provide access to citizen services information with the highest possible levels of customer service. The "1-9-1-9" initiative, which is set up under the Re-engineering Government Program of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka strives, to help with creating a people-friendly government while utilizing the maximum strength of ICT for government activities.
