General Procedure:

License Divisions

The main function of license units is issuing license for goods that are subjected to import / export control license requirement. Debiting the license after receiving goods on that license is another important function performed by a license unit.

Unit 01- Medicines
Unit 02- Vehicles
Unit 03 -Chemicals
Unit 04-Telecommunication Equipments and Miscellaneous items
Unit 05 -Exports

Submission Time Line

Obtain Application Form and Documents

Counter – Relevant Unit (Unit 1 /2/ 3/4 or 5)

Time – 8:30 am to 4:15 pm

Working Days – Monday to Friday

Holidays – Public and Mercantile Holidays

Making Payments

Counter – Cashier(Account Division)

Time – 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Working Days – Monday to Friday

Penalties

According to the Extraordinary gazette notification No. 1244/36 of 12-07-2002 and under section 06 of the Imports and Exports Control Act No. 01 0f 1969.

	Penalty Description
01	Import without ICL (except Motor Vehicles) Import without ICL (Drugs) Import without ICL (Drugs/ for personal use)
02	Import Prior to obtain ICL
03	Import after expiring ICL
04	Change Bank
05	Different Supplier
06	Drug Samples exceeding 10% limit
07	Violation of conditions laid down in the license
08	Incorrect H.S. subheadings
09	Item imported exceeding the quantity
10	Item imported exceeding the value
11	Import vehicles without proper Pre-Inspection Certificate
12	Goods imported in the name of c/o only
13	Import without ICL (Motor Vehicle)
14	Import vehicle which bears a different H.S. Number
15	In case of item not mentioned above, the Controller of Import and Exports shall have the power of levy an appropriate Additional Fee
