How to Resolve Public Complaints Related to Environmental Pollution

Introduction

CEA accepts complaints related to environmental problems.
If your complaint comes under following category, CEA recommends sending it to the relevant organization in order to minimize unnecessary delays.

Activity	Relevant Authority
Mining activities (sand mining, quarry blasting, earth cutting)	Geological Survey & Mines Bureau.
Erection of Telecommunication towers	Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC)
Reclamation of lands	Sri Lanka Land Reclamation & Development Corporation (SLRDC)
Wildlife and habitat protection matters	Wild Life Department
Any complaint pertaining to BOI approved industries	Board of Investment
Any complaints pertaining along the coast	Coast Conservation Department
Filling of paddy lands	Agrarian Services Commission
Municipal solid waste dumping	Local Authorities

How to make a Complain

Letter	:	by post/hand to any CEA office

Investigation Process

If the complaint is relevant to any other organization, it will forwarded to that organization with instructions to the complainant.
Otherwise, CEA will inspect the site.
Take necessary actions.

Office Hours

From 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on any working days (weekdays). Local authorities have their own working hours.

Processing Time

14 days to 2month
